1. The Society agrees to provide a place at the Abbeyfield
Residential Care Home at Frank Bond House, Bishops Hull, Taunton for
the Resident from the Starting Date on the terms of this agreement. The
house is a Care Home within the meaning of the Care Standards Act 2000.
2. The Resident will pay the Fee (or such part of the Fee which is not funded
by the Local Authority) monthly in advance on the first day of the month by Bankers
Order. The Fees will be reviewed from time to time and may be varied by the Society.
The Society will give the Resident one month's written notice of any variation.
3. This agreement is for a place in the Home and not for the exclusive possession
of any particular room. The Society reserves the right to move the Resident to
a different room if circumstances require. Initially the Resident will be admitted
to the Room referred to above.
4. An Assessment will take place before admission and a month's trial period
is given before residency becomes permanent.
5. Residents are free to come and go as they wish but staff must be notified
of any absence and the Manager must be notified of any overnight absence. No
reduction in the Fees is allowed for absence.
6. If temporary illness of a serious nature necessitates the Resident's removal
to hospital or Nursing Home his/her place will in normal circumstances be kept
pending a decision on his/her return. The Society will be prepared to consider
a reduction in the Fee during such a period. In the event of the death of a Resident
the Society will make a refund of part of the Fee pro rata to the time of death.
7. The Fee covers the cost of a Resident's place in a room, all meals, care as
is available at an Abbeyfield Extra Care House, lighting, heating, cleaning,
household laundering and most personal laundering. The following services are
not included and will be payable by the Resident :-

8. Residents may, subject to the approval of the Manager, bring small items of
furniture and personal belongings. All clothing or personal possessions must
be clearly marked with the Resident's name. The Society does not accept responsibility
for loss or damage to a Resident's property.
The Society will arrange insurance cover for each Resident's personal possessions
to a maximum of £500. This will not cover valuable items of furniture,
pictures, jewellery, silver or clothing and Residents should arrange their own
insurance at their own expense.
9. Subject to the Manager's consent, Residents may have a radio and television
in their own room, so long as they do not inconvenience other Residents. Facilities
are available for a personal telephone with a personal number but the cost of
installation, rental and calls fall upon the Resident.
10. Residents' friends and guests will be welcome to visit at all reasonable
times (subject to the Manager's discretion) and meals can be arranged at a small
cost.
11. Pets are not permitted in the Home without the express agreement of the Manager
which may be withdrawn at any time.
12. Smoking is not permitted in Residents' rooms nor elsewhere in the Home other
than in places authorised by the Manager.
13. Staff are forbidden to accept gifts or gratuities from Residents except small
gifts on occasions such as Birthdays or Christmas.
14. The Society and its staff will not discriminate against a Resident in relation
to age, disability, gender, religion or ethnic origin.
15. It is the policy of the Society to allow Residents to stay at the Home as
long as they wish to do so provided that they pay the Fees and their health allows,
but the Society reserves the right to terminate this agreement and request a
Resident to leave the Home on a month's notice.
This right will be exercised only in the interests of the Resident and fellow
Residents. The Society's decision will be final and it will not be obliged to
give any reasons for such a decision. In such an event or if the health of a
Resident deteriorates to a point where the Manager, after consultation with the
Resident's GP and Advocate decides that the Resident requires more care than
the Home can provide, then the Advocate will at the request of the Society be
responsible for providing suitable accommodation for the Resident.
16. The Resident may terminate this agreement by giving the Society one month's
notice in writing, in which case the Resident will leave the Home by the end
of the notice period.
17. Any complaint should be addressed to the relevant member of staff who will
try to resolve the problem. If the Resident is dissatisfied, a formal complaint
should be addressed to the Manager who will investigate and record details of
the complaint and the action taken to resolve it. A Resident who remains dissatisfied
may address a complaint in writing to the Chairman of the Society.
