Abbeyfield (Somerset) Ltd has offered the highest level of care from the same site for more than 20 years. During that time it has undergone two major extensions and now provides 24 hour care for 44 residents in either residential, apartment and dementia wings. The Manager, Jill Byford, has been in charge of the unit since opening and her dedication and experience, together with similar lengths of service in the senior team underpin the three star, “Excellent” award given in our most recent Inspection Report. For details click here. Each resident has their own comfortable room with toilet and washing facilities. Furniture is usually provided but favourite items may be used to promote a homely and individual space. Our fees are fully inclusive of 24 hour care, as well as laundry, cleaning, food and fuel bills. Residents will normally only need extra funds for additional costs such as clothing,hairdressing, chiropody, physiotherapy etc. Abbeyfield is “home” to our 44 residents. Visitors are welcome at all appropriate times and we are always available to discuss residents well being with next of kin. Particular emphasis is placed on the quality of meals. “Home cooking”, using wherever possible local suppliers and fresh ingredients, enables our experienced kitchen team to provide a choice of three healthy, well balanced meals each day catering for individual needs wherever possible. Non residential day care is also available, usually through non means tested local authority funding, enabling the home to provide support to local families, and a “taster” for those considering a first move to assisted living. Meals are provided at a low cost as well as transport to and from the home. |
